Almond Shortbread
I N G R E D I E N T S
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
Milk
1/4 cup sliced almonds
D I R E C T I O N S
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Stir flour and sugar in a mixing bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Stir in vanilla and almond extracts. Form mixture into a ball and knead until smooth.
Pat or roll dough into an 8-inch circle in an increased cookie sheet. Using your fingers, press to make a scalloped edge. Brush surface with milk.
Using a sharp knife, cut dough into 12 or 16 wedges. Do not separate wedges. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or just until edges are lightly browned. Cut into wedges again. Remove and cool on wire rack.
